In this course, we will explore the Letter of James – one of the most celebrated and controversial books in the New Testament – by examining its central theme of spiritual maturity. Although salvation comes by God’s grace through faith in Christ, James insists that genuine faith expresses itself in action, revealing five key marks of a mature Christian. Together, we will study James’s practical guidance on facing trials, resisting temptation, controlling our speech, caring for the marginalized and vulnerable, stewarding our resources, and persevering through suffering. By the end, students will see how James calls believers to live out an authentic, Christ-shaped faith in everyday life.
